Craters of the Moon National Monument

We made a stop on our drive from Jackson, Wyoming to Sun Valley, Idaho at Craters of the Moon National Monument.  If only I could explain just how bizarre this place is - it seriously felt like we were on the surface of the moon.  The Craters of the Moon was formed from a series of deep fissures - known collectively as the Great Rift - that cross the Snake River Plain.  This vast ocean of rock was unlike anything we’ve ever seen.
